This year's spring semester began on Feb. 9th. Over 600,000 pupils and
junior high school students in rural areas of west Hunan Province will be
exempted from incidental expenses (including fee of information
technology education) and the Central Government and Hunan Province will
subsidize 70.355 million yuan for this exemption. Starting from 2006,
Hunan will gradually carry out Central Government's policy of exempting
rural children receiving compulsory education from incidental expenses in
two years.
